The heat treated center balls are cross-drilled for thru-bolt lubrication and the joint internals are retained with 2 heavy duty, heat treated side washers and a snap ring. This specific joint is a 2 1/2 in. diameter, fitted with a zerk fitting for greasing, 2.3 in. of 1 1/4 in.-12 right hand threads on the shank, and a 2.440 in. mounting width ball with a .570 in. thru bolt hole. I like the tray a lot. Quality is very good. Color (Brown) is attractive. Size is perfect for my nightstand. It holds phone, remote, eyeglasses, & phone. I threaded my phone charging cord through a corner of the tray. But it slides too easily off of the nightstand. I'm going to try to find something to stop it from sliding that will stick to the underside of the tray without harming the wood surface on my cherry nightstand.
