One of the most predominant changes to the Jazzmaster formula is the replacement of classic Jazzmaster single-coil pickups with new Fender Yosemite single-coil pickups. Producing a recognizable Jazzmaster tone with a little more output, the American Performer Jazzmaster provides balance to accommodate a wide range of playing styles. The Yosemite pickups are matched with a Stratocaster-styled synchronized tremolo bridge to create more expressive bends in playing than a more common offset vibrato tailpiece Jazzmaster can. Adjustments in tonal character are not limited to pickups and bridges as the new Fender Greasebucket tone circuit allows players to control minute characteristics of their tone by rolling off highs without muddying tone or losing note articulation. While the American Performer Jazzmaster features a sleek “Modern C”-shaped neck for easily traversal of the fingerboard, vintage-style ClassicGear tuning machines ensure accuracy in tuning and performance.
