Palate
Rich and robust on the palate, this Shiraz displays the hallmark soft, grippy tannins that define The Beast. The fine-grained tannin structure provides excellent framework whilst remaining approachable, balanced by enticing complexity and well-integrated oak. Flavours of dark berries, cedar and vanilla bean persist through the long, satisfying finish. The 2023 vintage's gradual ripening conditions have delivered exceptional natural acidity, ensuring freshness and longevity.
Sourced from a single block high on the estate peak where shallow red clay loam overlies shattered limestone, the vines benefit from reduced natural vigour and long, even sunlight exposure on the elevated eastern aspect. The 2023 vintage experienced ideal conditions—delayed ripening, gradual flavour accumulation and great natural acidity—resulting in a wine of remarkable balance and intensity.
