Over het Domein

Domaine Tortochot, gelegen in het hart van de Côte de Nuits, is al vier generaties in handen van de familie Tortochot. Het domein staat bekend om zijn toewijding aan traditionele wijnbouwmethoden en het produceren van wijnen die het unieke karakter van hun terroir weerspiegelen. De huidige eigenaar, Chantal Tortochot, zet de familietraditie voort met een focus op kwaliteit en duurzaamheid.

Wijngaard en Terroir

De wijngaard "Les Corvées" is gelegen in de appellatie Gevrey-Chambertin, bekend om zijn kalkrijke bodems die ideaal zijn voor de Pinot Noir-druif. De wijnstokken hebben een gemiddelde leeftijd die bijdraagt aan de complexiteit en diepte van de wijn. Domaine Tortochot beoefent biologische wijnbouw, wat resulteert in wijnen die een zuivere expressie van het terroir bieden.

Vinificatie

De druiven worden met de hand geoogst en zorgvuldig geselecteerd. Na volledige ontsteling ondergaan ze een traditionele fermentatie in open kuipen met inheemse gisten. De wijn rijpt vervolgens gedurende 15 maanden in Franse eikenhouten vaten, waarvan een deel nieuw is, om structuur en complexiteit te ontwikkelen.

Proefnotities

In het glas presenteert de wijn een diepe robijnrode kleur. De neus onthult aroma's van rood fruit, zoals kersen en frambozen, aangevuld met subtiele tonen van zoethout en leer. In de mond is de wijn evenwichtig en harmonieus, met expressies van klein rood fruit en zachte tannines. De afdronk is lang en verfijnd, met een aanhoudende fruitigheid.

Serveertemperatuur en Gastronomische Combinaties

Serveer deze wijn op een temperatuur van 16-18°C. De Gevrey Chambertin AC Les Corvées BIO past uitstekend bij gegrild rood vlees, wildgerechten en gerijpte kazen. Zijn complexiteit en elegantie maken het ook een ideale partner voor gerechten zoals geroosterde eend of lamsrack.

A familiar story, just with…..less.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
