Krug Vintage 2008 is een monumentale vintage Champagne met een uitgesproken structuur en concentratie, maar altijd met de typische Krug-elegantie en precisie. In de neus komen rijpe citrus, gekonfijte sinaasappelschil, witte perzik en amandel naar voren, gevolgd door brioche, honing en een duidelijke, stenige mineraliteit. In de mond is de wijn compact en gelaagd: een fijne mousse “lost op” in de textuur, met een diepe kern van fruit, indrukwekkende spanning en een lange, ziltige afdronk die minutenlang blijft nazinderen.

Vinificatie.
De cuvée wordt perceel per perceel samengesteld uit wijnen van het oogstjaar 2008. Een deel van de basiswijnen wordt traditioneel in eiken vaten gevinifieerd en opgevoed om textuur en complexiteit te geven zonder het fruit te maskeren. De tweede gisting gebeurt op fles volgens de traditionele methode. Krug laat zijn vintages zeer lang rijpen op de lies (meer dan 10 jaar) vóór dégorgement, wat de wijn zijn kenmerkende diepte, briochetonen en zijdezachte integratie geeft. De dosage wordt laag gehouden in brut-stijl (rond 5 g/l, afhankelijk van dégorgement-batch). 

Het domein.
Maison Krug (opgericht in 1843) behoort tot de absolute top van Champagne en staat bekend om een unieke, compromisloze benadering: maximale selectie, enorme bibliotheek aan reservewijnen en een stijl die altijd “vineus” en gastronomisch is, met meer nadruk op structuur en complexiteit dan op puur fruit. De huisstijl is gebouwd op precisie en geduld: langzame rijping, minimale concessies en een constante focus op harmonie en lengte. Krug Vintage is hun interpretatie van één oogstjaar, enkel gemaakt wanneer het huis vindt dat het jaar een uitgesproken, unieke signatuur kan dragen én waardig kan rijpen op het hoogste niveau. Sinds 2024 zijn hun eigen wijngaarden (ongeveer 20% van de productie) biologisch gecertificeerd en ondersteunen ze hun partners om tegen 2030 ook dit certificaat te halen.

Assembled chair only to find that the lift cylinder was faulty. Would have preferred to be able to just get a replacement cylinder but calling China didn't seem like a viable option. Guessing which one & buying it online would involve paying for a good portion of what the chair cost. Customer service could only offer a replacement or refund. We're disassembling (so much fun?!) to send it back. The chair itself was very comfortable, assembled fairly easily and instructions pretty clear. Again, if we could only have asked the seller for the replacement part......**Update**...Or if the instructions that seemed so clear were clearer!, as we started to disassemble, we decided to see what would happen if the tension knob (see photo) was loosened. IT ALLOWED THE LIFT CYLINDER TO WORK. Not at all what the instructions say. At any rate, we're keeping the chair.
