Module 1 - Project inception - objective, scope, organization development and launch – and project performance metrics

Pre-requisite: Familiarization with industrial or commercial operations and experience in small project implementation.

Time/Duration: 2 hours.

Brief Program Description and Objectives:

This course caters to Engineers, aspiring Project Managers, current Project Managers, Facilities Managers, and Energy Professionals who are involved in – or anticipate involvement in – project management role in the energy arena. This course introduces attendees to the importance of specificity, and clear definition of project objective and scope. Participants are introduced to the S.M.A.R.T goal formulation criteria for the development of project goals and objectives. Once preliminary

objectives or goals are developed, they must be vetted and refined – this course introduces participants to proven approaches on how to assess and refine goals and objectives. As the next step, attendees are introduced to important elements of project organization, with the project manager as the project leader. With the project team assembled, the attendees will learn about the importance of protocols for effective communications – lateral and vertical – and activities associated with successful implementation of projects. Participants will also be introduced to the distinction between single phase contiguous projects versus long multi-segmented, or multi-phase, projects. Dynamics of project flow will be covered and the participants will be introduced to mainstream project management tools and metrics.

Topics to be covered:

  • Energy Project Objective, Scope, Basic Assumptions and Goal Setting
  • Energy Project Screening/Vetting
  • Project team organization, management approval and protocol for communications and transactions
  • Phased Implementation of Long Multi-Segmented Projects
  • Development of functional specifications of the system or process
  • Project Management Tools
  • Project Schedule development
  • Project Mapping and Flow
  • Project Performance Metrics

These best practices encompass a wide range of project responsibilities and activities, importance of planning, 5-S process and the importance of work space or work station organization, safe work practices, PPE and its proper use, including elevated work, welding, cutting, employee morale, worker productivity, work place harassment, zero tolerance, etc. Participants are introduced to or refreshed on other critical safety considerations that are rarely covered by many project management courses, i.e. Fire Prevention and Protection, SPCC, RCRA, Arc Flash NFPA 70 E considerations, LOTO and EAP.

Topics to be covered:

  • Project Management - Construction and Project Implementation Phase Best Practices
  • 5-P, 5-S and 5-C Processes
  • Safety in Construction Phase

Time/Duration: 2 hours.

Brief Program Description and Objectives:

The best practices discussed in this segment relate to skills, protocols, policies, and methods that gain added importance in the project execution or implementation phases. This segment also assists project managers – or aspiring project managers – in the “ideation” aspect of energy projects, vis-à-vis, where and what to look for in the development or selection of energy project alternatives.

Topics to be covered:

  • Construction and Project Implementation Phase Best Practices, Contd.
  • Importance of Interpersonal Skills, Clear Communication and Clarification of Expectations on Projects
  • Professionalism, Workplace Harassment, Morale and Positive Reinforcement on Projects

Participants then learn important proven best practices associated with construction and late implementation phases of typical medium to large size projects. The best practices discussed in this segment relate to major activities, task, skills, protocols, policies, and methods that pertain to latter part of project implementation, system or process commissioning and proper closure of a typical energy project.

Topics to be covered:

  • Energy Basics and Energy Savings Project Ideas for Energy Professionals – The “Low Hanging Fruit,” Contd
  • Factory Testing – AKA: Factory Acceptance Test
  • Receive equipment, material, tools, equipment and supplies for the installation phase
  • Pre-mobilization Transfer of Drawings, Technical Data and Important Safety Information

Good for medium and large dogs not good for small dogs
Too big for dogs under 15 pounds. Treats are hard to get out of the four corners. My dog can barely pick this up. She weighs 12 pounds. She still found it interesting though trying to dig the treats out that she was unsuccessful. Even after I cut all the little triangle prongs off the four corners the treats are still stuck in there. There is a slot on the side that I can put half of a dental refill in the side and she can eventually get it out so there’s still somewhat of play and challenge received, but not that satisfied to me.

Great for aggressive chewers!
Size: Jumbo, Style: Peanut Butter
I have a very very aggressive chewer. She is a Rottweiler/Pitbull mix. Most toys she completely destroys within 2 days, sometimes 2 hours. I must praise this toy as she has had it for over 5 months and has not destroyed it! She loves chewing the ends and carries in her mouth squeaking it as she goes. I have 4 pups and they all take turns chewing when they can. I will be buying more Playology dog toys in the future. Thank you for making such a great toy!!

They are her favorites
Size: Medium (VALUE 2-Pack), Style: Beef, Size: Medium (VALUE 2-Pack), Style: Beef
We’ve had many dogs, many very destructive ones and wish I had these years ago. The hard toys get sharp edges, this toy is the best and yes is far better than the other red ones. My bulldog wants tug of war for 30 min to an hour every night. We’ve gotten tennis elbow, tendinitis, and pulled muscles holding onto this thing. She has tons of toys but 9pm and this is only option for her. We don’t get a choice. Easy to hold, well for a few min until your hand gets tired. First you one was about 3 years ago and she’s only on her third one. They last forever, easy to clean, and aren’t sharp edges. Seriously, better than any toy sold anywhere. My phone has hundred of pictures of Pickle holding this. She’s doing it right now. If you have a strong destructive dog that takes pride in destroying toys, ruin their confidence and get them this one.

Perfect Toy for Large Dogs
Size: Medium, Style: Cheddar Cheese
I don’t normally leave reviews, but this toy is stellar and is a new favorite for my dog! She is a large dog (70lbs cattle dog lab mix) and I accidentally bought a medium, but it actually is a great size for her! So far this stands up to her chewing, but I may need to update in a few weeks to speak for durability but it really does feel solid. Most toys don’t last an afternoon once she starts chewing, so this has already won in that regard. The shape is perfect as well. She can gnaw at it, squeak, play fetch, play tug. It bounces when she throws it around herself. The fact it smells like stinky cheese is just an added bonus for her. All around, a very well designed dog toy!
