The widely used quote takes a different meaning for the artist. Representing everyone who’s humble, generous, and kind, this piece is an awe to the fact that everyone can be special, valued, and important. The highly popular works have a contemporary, urban edge, but as an artist, Dan is hugely influenced by the creation of the Renaissance and it’s the fusion of the two different styles that make the pieces so special. The dark and thoughtful piece is full of contrasting details, incorporating elements in a balanced way, such as the hummingbirds and flowers alongside skulls and crowns. Nature influences Dan's art heavily, with many pieces featuring flowers, insects, and birds.
Constantly constructing concepts as physical creations, Lane’s development and experimentation methods coupled with his ability to blend thematic elements, results in work that is simultaneously stylistically distinct and ever evolving.
