Freedom of the Presses is at once a textbook and a toolbox for using artists' books and creative publications to further community engagement and social justice projects.
Far from being a staid survey of an art historical practice, Freedom of the Presses intervenes in an ongoing discussion about art and activism in the present day by considering the place of the art book in the 21st century. The publisher, Booklyn, has been involved in this conversation since 1999, when a group of six artists decided to band together to promote contemporary artists' books and publications. Booklyn's focus has always been voracious, encompassing street art, punk and activist culture alongside more conventional artists' books. This restless energy is present in Freedom of the Presses, which brings together a provocative mix of humorous, intimate and scholarly writing in order to expand how we think about the concept, content, design, production and distribution of artists' and activists' publications today. Aimed at a global community of librarians, publishers and readers, it offers models of how to reimagine contemporary artists' bookmaking as a socially engaged, political practice. Nice recipes, AWFUL font

I loved Cook This Book. Mine has a permanent crease on the Caesar salad page and the other recipes I have tried have all been winners, so I was excited to get Molly’s next book. My initial browse through the recipes has me excited to try them out, I just cannot understand the choice of this awful font. It is so difficult to read and make out the letters. I can’t imagine how difficult it would be for someone with visual or reading impairments. There is even a fully black page with dark blue font that is basically unreadable (the picture I included is very kind, in real life the contrast is extremely minimal). It’s such a huge distraction from what otherwise appears to be a nice collection.

Useful

Wonderfully written with lots of good advice. I think a lot of young people are lost in the world because a lot of this stuff is not taught in school anymore, at least not where I am. This would be a great resource for kids that are aging out of foster care and need the guidance of how to manage life. This could also serve to guide adults leaving prison.
I wish I would have had something like this when I was becoming an adult because I didn't have the best guidance and figured a lot of stuff out on my own. I will make sure both my kids have a copy to guide them in the event I'm not around to help them. Overall, great book and I'm glad someone wrote it. Lol

Skills to faster success

The was truly inspiring The sections: B basic skills for Living, Money Skills for Teens and Digital Life Skills for Teens included detailed information for effective living as a young person. Topics included: how to manage money, find a job, eat healthy and live independently. The financial and Digital sections included: investing, understanding debt, valuable information on credit scores, the distinction between employed & self - employed and which may be best for you. Also, how to navigate online to avoid scams be a good social media person, the word is NETIQUETTE.
The book is extremely helpful with ideas to Kickstart your life in school and beyond
