Six Questions Your iLoveKickboxing.com Franchise Financial Model Must Answer

We built this small business financial model for kickboxing studios using detailed research on unit-level economics and typical boutique gym overhead. The model comes pre-populated with data like $300,000 in first-year membership fees and $179,000 in Year 1 EBITDA, but you can easily edit every line to match your specific territory. It covers everything from initial franchise fees to recurring software costs, giving you a credible look at the $966,000 minimum cash needed to navigate the ramp-up phase.

What is the profitability trajectory?

The studio is projected to hit profitability quickly, reaching a positive EBITDA of $179,000 in its first full year of operation. By year five, as membership scales and retail sales grow, annual EBITDA is expected to reach $541,000 after accounting for all royalties and fixed costs. How to forecast revenue for a fitness studio franchise depends on these membership tiers, and this model shows a clear upward path as you move past the initial three-month break-even window.

Boost Unit Profitability

  • Upsell trial packages to memberships
  • Increase high-margin retail sales
  • Optimize instructor shift scheduling

How much capital is required and how is it allocated?

You will need a total initial investment of approximately $331,900 to cover the core startup costs, not including the cash buffer for the first few months. The largest capital expenditure items include $150,000 for leasehold improvements and $60,000 for specialized fitness equipment. This franchise investment calculator also accounts for the $24,900 franchise fee and $40,000 for mirrors and flooring to meet brand standards. Most funds are used for the physical build-out and essential studio infrastructure.

Primary Capital Uses

  • Leasehold Improvements: $150,000
  • Fitness Equipment: $60,000
  • Franchise Fee: $24,900
[dynamic_pic10]

What is the return on investment?

Investors can expect an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 5.37% and a Return on Equity (ROE) of 1.39 over the five-year period. The payback period is estimated at 3 years, which is typical for a boutique fitness center with high initial build-out costs. Calculating ROI for new fitness franchise locations requires looking at this multi-year window where margins improve as the member base matures. This franchise unit pro forma financial statement shows a healthy balance between initial risk and long-term cash flow.

Key Investment Metrics

  • Payback Period: 3 Years
  • Year 5 EBITDA: $541,000
  • Internal Rate of Return: 5.37%
[dynamic_pic11]

What is the break-even point?

The studio is projected to reach its monthly break-even point in March 2026, just 3 months after opening for classes. This fast timeline is driven by the aggressive pre-sale of trial packages and membership fees that quickly cover the $7,500 monthly rent. Your gym franchise business plan should focus on hitting a membership volume of roughly 250 active members to stay above the fixed cost line. Controlling labor costs for instructors is the biggest lever for maintaining this break-even status.

Speed Up Break-Even

  • Aggressive pre-opening membership sales
  • Negotiate tiered rent escalations
  • Minimize initial retail inventory
[dynamic_pic12]

What is the cash runway and lowest cash point?

The lowest cash point occurs in June 2026, with a minimum cash balance of $966,000, suggesting a significant capital buffer is needed to handle the initial ramp-up. You need enough runway to cover the $11,000+ in monthly fixed expenses before the membership revenue fully scales. To protect your cash flow, you should phase in your exterior signage and sound system payments where possible. Managing the timing of your $150,000 leasehold spend is the most critical factor in preserving your liquidity during construction.

Protect Your Cash

  • Phase equipment delivery payments
  • Delay non-essential furniture buys
  • Use part-time front desk staff
[dynamic_pic13]

How do Low, Medium, and High scenarios change the outcome?

The high-case scenario assumes revenue climbs to $1.2M by year five, significantly shortening the payback period and boosting the Year 1 margin. In a low-case scenario, where membership growth is 20% slower, the peak cash need increases and the break-even point could push out by several months. This startup cost breakdown for boutique gym franchise shows that even small changes in membership retention can swing annual EBITDA by $50,000 or more. Execution on local marketing is what separates the high-performers from the rest.

Hit the High Case

  • Run local referral challenges
  • Maintain 90%+ member retention
  • Maximize peak-hour class capacity

Not perfect for every dog, but still worth a shot
I bought the bacon-flavored Benebone with high hopes after reading the reviews. Our 45lb mutt loves to chew on bones (and thankfully that's ALL she loves to chew on!) but we've had trouble finding anything that she can't destroy in one sitting. We've heard that antlers are the longest lasting but can be damaging to the dog's teeth, so we wanted to try something with a little less potential for disaster. The Benebone wishbone fared okay. I do have to say that she loved the bone, as did our 14lb schnoodle. The first day she had it, they took turns gnawing on it for hours. Unfortunately, the large one's jaws are quite strong, and so by the end of day 1 there were some pretty significant teething marks on each of the ends, and it was starting to look pretty gnarly. I put it up for a little bit, but they've had other nylon bones that looked worse so I gave it back to them the next day. On day 2, the little one was chewing on it so vigorously (and I think the bone was gnarly enough) that her gums started bleeding. I noticed the blood on the bone so I took it away again. On day 3, I gave the bone back to the large one to chew on. It wasn't too long, though, until I was hearing some pretty loud snaps and I found that the large pup was actually starting to get larger pieces off of the ends of the wishbone. This had me worried, so I threw the wishbone away. Relative to other chew toys that the large one likes (she'll only chew on bones and edibles, for some reason - nothing with any sort of rubbery material), this did actually have a decent life span, but we're still looking for something better. I give the product 3 stars because the dogs clearly loved the bone, and I'm sure that it's perfect for some dogs. For example, if it was just our schnoodle chewing on it, it would have lasted much longer and I would probably be posting a 5-star review here. In the end, though, we did buy the wishbone for the larger dog, and it failed to hold up for her - for the price, I would have wanted something that lasts longer - hence the two star deduction. UPDATE 8/10/2014: Not long after I posted this review, Benebone contacted me in the comments to offer a refund and hinted at the potential for a larger bone sometime in the future. I sent in our order number and they processed the refund quickly. I've added back an extra star, because Benebone's stellar customer service has made the product worth the try. I would definitely do business with Benebone again, and I'm looking forward to trying (or rather, having my pup try) a larger version of the bone if/when it surfaces!

I Import These to Mexico That's How Good They Are
I have purchased this bone at least 10 times and will keep buying it indefinitely. I have 8 rescue dogs, all extreme chewers , we're talking dogs that destroy absolutely everything. This is the only bone I've found that holds their interest and keeps them coming back for more. I've tried every type of bone on the market. This one wins! My dogs range from 5 lbs to 100 lbs and every single one of them is equally obsessed. I now order 5 at a time because I know they'll all be used. The price point is excellent for what you get, and after constant use across 8 dogs, I haven't noticed any negative effects on their health or teeth. I love these so much that I actually import them to Mexico, that should tell you everything. Every time someone visits and sees how occupied and happy my dogs are, they immediately ask where they can get them too. Benebone, you have a customer for life!!!!!!

Dogs love them and they are very safe for them to chew!
These bones are indispensable if you have a chewing and destructive puppy! (Or any dog, really) ours love them and never get tired of chewing - so far we have had them for a month and no one is tired of them or more importantly has managed to eat any of them. They are a great buy and keep dogs really occupied when they may get bored and feel like causing trouble or chewing something!
