Fleas:
Dogs and other warm-blooded animals are particularly susceptible to fleas in warm climates or during the summer when temperatures rise and humidity increases. They can acquire fleas from other pets or their surroundings. Fleas utilize their powerful hind legs to jump onto a "host" (your dog) and then bite, leading to itching, hair loss, and hot spots that can cause inflamed lesions or even skin infections. You may also observe small dark specks on your pet, which are flea feces made from digested blood.
Female fleas can survive for several weeks on your pet, laying between 20-30 eggs daily. While some of these eggs may hatch into larvae on your pet, others will fall off into your home, where they will feed on skin scales and other organic materials. Ticks:
