Race and Modern Architecture: A Critical History from the Enlightenment to the PresentAlthough race a concept of human difference that establishes hierarchies of power and domination has played a critical role in the development of modern architectural discourse and practice since the Enlightenment, its influence on the discipline remains largely underexplored. Although race--a concept of human difference that establishes hierarchies of power and domination--has played a critical role in the development of modern architectural discourse and practice since the Enlightenment, its influence on the discipline remains largely underexplored. This volume offers a welcome and long-awaited intervention for the field by shining a spotlight on constructions of race and their impact on architecture and theory in Europe and North America and across various global contexts since the eighteenth century. Challenging us to write race back into architectural history, contributors confront how racial thinking has intimately shaped some of the key concepts of modern architecture and culture over time, including freedom, revolution, character, national and indigenous style, progress, hybridity, climate, representation, and radicalism. By analyzing how architecture has intersected with histories of slavery, colonialism, and inequality--from eighteenth-century neoclassical governmental buildings to present-day housing projects for immigrants--Race and Modern Architecture challenges, complicates, and revises the standard association of modern architecture with a universal project of emancipation and progress.Binding Type: Paperback

Size: X-Large, Color: Pale Pink
Good quality but a little tight. The collar needs to be better

Exactly what I needed-a good button down inexpensive shirt
Size: Large, Color: White
This is a nice heavier weighted button up. I bought this for me (female) & so far I really like it.

Fabric quality good, Size incorrect
Size: Large, Color: White
The quality of the fabric is good. I like it. Don't like multiple tags, where everyone is moving towards tagless shirts. I had to literally struggle with scissors to remove the big tags on the shoulder. Size wise its little tight-fitting than my liking for formals. I think one size bigger than the standard size would have been better for me. I suggest ordering one size bigger.

An Oxford for less than 6.00? couldn't believe so I purchased one.. all I can say is that I immediately purchased two more. Fit and fabric outstanding...buy before they're gone.... highly recommend

Surprising
Size: Medium, Color: Light Grey Vertical Stripe
It’s a heavier cotton, but like it very much will wear it in warm temps as well as colder. Was true to size and the small amt. of stretch makes it very comfortable. Shocked at the price,I purchased fully expecting a bit of dissatisfaction.
