Vertex Zweitaktkolben

Da gegossene Kolben im Vergleich zu geschmiedeten Kolben einen höheren Siliziumgehalt aufweisen und Zweitakter im Vergleich zu Viertaktern niedrigere Zylinderdrücke haben, sind gegossene Kolben ideal für Zweitaktmotoren. Vertex-Kolben werden im Schwerkraftverfahren aus einer Aluminiumlegierung mit 18 % Siliziumgehalt gegossen. Silizium ist wichtig, weil:

  • Es verringert die Wärmeausdehnung, die die Geometrie verändert, nachdem der Kolben die Betriebstemperatur erreicht hat. Aufgrund der geringen Wärmeausdehnung können Vertex-Kolben im Vergleich zu geschmiedeten Kolben mit engeren Toleranzen betrieben werden. Dies führt zu mehr Kraft und Leistung und macht sie außerdem weniger anfällig für Klappergeräusche oder Brüche.
  • Silizium verleiht den Kolben bessere Verschleißeigenschaften und verlängert die Lebensdauer des Kolbens durch geringeren Verschleiß am Kolbenschaft.
